‘Convergence’ was made through online sonic exchanges between Kagamimachi, Kyushu and Portland, ME during the COVID-19 pandemic. TA2MI took guitar improvisations that I recorded and arranged them with natural and synthesized soundscapes to create the present ambient/environmental compositions. They are intended to produce a sonic atmosphere well-suited for relaxation, concentration, meditation, and movement. We hope you enjoy!

Tatsumi has become a good friend and close interlocutor over the past two years, as I work with him on my PhD dissertation research on relationships between sound, music, and Buddhism in secular Japan. In addition to being a music producer, Tatsumi is a Jōdō-shin Buddhist priest who is in charge of Shōsan temple in rural Kyushu. It’s an honor to work with him on this project. Please check out his other work! He is a relentlessly motivated creator, with several solo albums under his belt, and more forthcoming. His 2014 album, ‘Travel Through Worlds,’ was featured in FactMagazine (-- www.factmag.com/2014/04/24/from-monastery-to-bandcamp-via-hospital-bed-meet-tatsumi-the-skateboarding-monk-making-brilliant-electronic-music --) and is available on streaming services such as Spotify and AppleMusic. All of his albums--including his most recent solo work, "完治 | かんち | Kanchi | Complete Cure"--are available for streaming and purchase on his BandCamp, ta2mi.bandcamp.com.
